Today, an Air Astana Airbus A320 skidded off of runway 04/22 at Astana Airport (UACC) in Kazakhstan.
The Airbus 320 (reg. P4-KBB) Flight #KC352 arrived from Shymkent after a 1 hour, 45 minute flight.
While the aircraft began to descend, a heavy rain shower accompanied by strong wind covered Astana.
Almost immediately after touchdown the plane came off of the runway to the right side and got stuck in the grass near the runway. One engine was damaged. According to local newspapers, none off the 97 passengers and 9 crewmembers were injured.
After the incident, the airport was closed for about 40 minutes until the plane got towed to a parking slot. The airport is back to normal service.
