Turkish Airlines flight #TK617 from Istanbul Ataturk International Airport to Casablanca Mohammed V International Airport was forced to divert to Algiers Houari Boumediene Airport today due to a bomb threat.

The Boeing 777 (reg. TC-JJR) diverted to Algiers today after the Turkish company received a message of a bomb on board the plane from a Moroccan resident in Yemen.

Passengers were evacuated via emergency slides. The police searched the plane and concluded no bomb was on board.

Preliminary investigations show that the Moroccan suffers mental illness.

The Turkish plane is now allowed to leave Houari Boumediene airport to Casablanca.
